Living in a motorhome - making it a reality!

Living in a motorhome - making it a reality!

How to make your home where you park it - literally!

We are finally in June - the month where all Covid-19 restrictions are set to be lifted at last! If everything goes to plan, the fourth and final stage of the roadmap will remove all limits on social contact and most importantly - travel!

The pandemic changed many things forever but one of them was the way people travel.

Staycations and motorhome holidays boomed - and people who wouldn’t usually enjoy the local scenery in a motorhome started unforgettable adventures right on their doorstep. Even the younger generation joined the UK’s growing number of caravanners!

Since Motorhome trips and caravanning became the new traveller’s trend, people also started debating whether or not their motorhome could become their full-time residence.

“Home is where you park it” has grown to be a popular saying among the motorhome community and with the carefree, adventurous life it comes with it’s not hard to see why! Here are the top 3 things to consider if you are really planning to live in your Timberland motorhome long term.

Make sure you can work remotely

If you want to live a life out of the comfort of your motorhome then you need to make sure you can not only afford to sustain this lifestyle but also have a job that allows you to work remotely. Living on the road is more expensive than one may think due to petrol and parking fees adding up. Figure out your annual salary and expenses before you make the move to four wheels!

Be prepared to downsize possessions

Get ready to live a very simple, minimalist lifestyle! Living and travelling with all your worldly possessions packed into your motorhome will not be possible (unless you don’t own much) so be prepared to part with the items you don’t need. Gradually sell, throw away or donate things you don’t need before you make the decision to move the rest to a motorhome.

Do your Motorhome research

Last but not least, before you take the plunge and decide to live long term in your motorhome make sure you’ve done plenty of research. This includes assessing the affordability of the motorhome you want, the size and number of people living inside, the distance you will travel, where you will travel to and of course test driving the motorhome to make sure it’s the right one.

Ready to make the full-time move to four wheels and have never-ending adventures? Whether you’ve recently retired, changed jobs or simply want to get out of the bustling city life, there’s a motorhome waiting at Timberland to make that dream a reality for you!
