If you’re wanting to plug in your adventurous side this summer and go off-grid, rest assured that most motorhomes can plug into a mains hook-up on campsites. This will be essential for charging the battery, operating the lights, fridge, and if required, the heating.
However, if you plan to spend time at sites with no means of power, most vehicles will easily run on a combination of a 12V battery and gas cylinder for several days. Motorhomes with solar panels can also top up the battery if needed!
If you intend on towing a car behind your motorhome for an extra off-road adventure, it is generally permissible in the UK. However, make sure your towed car meets the technical requirements needed for a trailer i.e. effective brakes, handbrake, triangular rear reflectors etc.
